Turck’s TBEN-L-SE-M2 managed Ethernet switch now integrates seamless Fieldbus connectivity, enabling direct Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) communication via Profinet, Ethernet/IP, and Modbus TCP protocols. This firmware enhancement streamlines industrial network management by facilitating straightforward configuration and real-time diagnostics directly through PLC interfaces. Built for rugged environments, the IP67-rated switch withstands extreme temperatures (-40°C to +70°C), shock, vibration, and UV exposure, making it ideal for modular machinery and outdoor installations.

Equipped with high-speed gigabit backbone ports and standard 10/100 Mbit/s interfaces, the switch ensures efficient data transfer for applications requiring large bandwidth, such as video streaming. Security features include a built-in firewall and load-dump protection to safeguard against electrical surges, while VLAN support and web-based/USB configuration options enhance flexibility. Its compact, modular design simplifies wiring in high-speed manufacturing environments, reducing the need for bulky enclosures.

Optimized for Modern IIoT Systems

The updated firmware allows the switch to operate natively within PLC-controlled networks, eliminating external gateways. Users can perform basic setups and access diagnostic data through familiar Fieldbus interfaces, enabling unified protocol management in mixed industrial environments.

Designed for outdoor control cabinets, the switch’s IP65/IP67/IP69K-rated enclosure resists harsh conditions, including temperature extremes, mechanical stress, and UV radiation. A wide input voltage range (8-30 VDC) ensures reliable operation across diverse power environments, while advanced electrical protections prevent damage from transients.

Managed Switches in Industrial Networks

Traditional unmanaged switches are common in isolated industrial networks, handling basic traffic routing between PLCs, HMIs, and robotic controllers. However, managed switches like the TBEN-L-SE-M2 become critical in modular systems where network isolation cannot be guaranteed over time.

Advanced features such as NAT routing and VLAN segmentation enable large modular equipment arrays to be logically divided for secure external communication. The integrated firewall blocks malicious traffic and filters unnecessary data, improving throughput. Real-time network load monitoring simplifies congestion detection and troubleshooting.

Ideal for Robotics and Modular Machinery

In high-speed automation environments, such as robotic assembly lines, the switch’s 150 ms quick-connect startup minimizes downtime during tool changes. Its modular connectors and compact form factor support seamless integration into modular machine architectures without requiring extensive cabling.

By combining PLC-compatible Fieldbus protocols with robust security and scalability, the TBEN-L-SE-M2 offers an efficient, future-ready solution for industries demanding reliable, high-performance networks in modern industrial applications.
