Puls DIN Rail Power Supplies: Elevating Efficiency, Reliability, and Compactness
Puls has unveiled its latest innovation in the power supply realm - the new PLANET family of single- and three-phase power supplies. These cutting-edge devices promise a remarkable 30% enhancement in efficiency, reliability, and compactness when compared to Puls' previous offerings.
Introducing the PLANET DIN Rail Power Supplies
Puls has engineered the PLANET series of power supplies to cater to loads of up to 960 W while achieving an impressive 97% efficiency. This high level of efficiency brings about a multitude of benefits. For one, it significantly reduces operating costs, allowing businesses to save on their energy bills. Moreover, it contributes to a lower carbon footprint, making it easier for companies to align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives.
In terms of reliability and longevity, Puls claims that the new power supplies outshine their predecessors, the QS and QT series, by up to 30%. These devices are guaranteed to operate for a minimum of 100,000 hours, with an outstanding Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of up to 325,000 hours. This makes them a stable and long-lasting solution, likely to endure as long as the rest of the machine or automation system they power.
Safety and Performance Features
Safety is a top priority in the design of the PLANET power supplies. Each unit is equipped with Puls' Hiccup protection mechanism, which provides an additional layer of security in the face of overcurrent, short circuits, and other potential issues.
One of the standout features of these power supplies is their load-balancing capability. In dynamic industrial environments with moving machinery, power demands are constantly changing. The PLANET power supply can intelligently detect fluctuations in power draw and adjust accordingly, ensuring optimal performance at all times.
Another remarkable feature is Puls BonusPower capability. In industrial settings, sudden power spikes are not uncommon, such as when multiple pumps are switched on simultaneously. These spikes can wreak havoc on traditional power supplies. However, with BonusPower, the PLANET power supplies can handle demands of up to 200% of the maximum load for up to 12 seconds and can operate continuously at 120% of the maximum load, providing a buffer against such unexpected events.
Streamlined Installation and Troubleshooting
Puls has paid close attention to the practical aspects of using these power supplies. The new line is compact, with widths as small as 79 mm depending on the model, making them ideal for fitting into tight spaces. They are also designed for DIN-rail mounting, further enhancing their space-saving capabilities.
Installation is made quick and easy thanks to the newly designed push terminals. Wires can be connected rapidly without the need for a screwdriver, saving time and reducing the risk of errors during the installation process. Additionally, the high efficiency of these power supplies allows them to operate fanlessly, which not only reduces mechanical noise but also minimizes electrical interference.
When it comes to troubleshooting, the PLANET power supplies have an edge over many competing products. While many power supplies only have one or two status LEDs, which can make it difficult to pinpoint problems, the three-phase PLANET variants feature a bar graph of status LEDs. These LEDs provide a clear indication of how much load the system is using, enabling users to identify issues at a glance without the need for extensive investigation or a larger footprint in the control cabinet.
Driving Industrial Automation Forward
Puls has designed its latest generation of DIN rail power supplies with the needs of both machine builders and installers in mind. These power supplies are capable of sourcing high current in both single and three-phase applications, making them versatile solutions for a wide range of industrial automation scenarios. With their combination of efficiency, reliability, safety features, and user-friendly design, the PLANET power supplies are set to make a significant impact on the industrial automation landscape, helping businesses achieve their operational goals while maintaining a high standard of performance and safety.
