Baumer Launches OX 2D Profile Sensors & RF-Mount LX Cameras to Upgrade End-to-End Visual Inspect
Swiss leading machine vision specialist Baumer has unveiled two flagship product lines—the OX intelligent 2D laser profile sensor and LX series industrial cameras equipped with native Canon RF mount—further expanding its full-stack industrial vision portfolio, delivering higher inspection accuracy, greater optical flexibility and lower deployment costs for automated manufacturing lines.
The OX series laser profile sensor targets high-precision contour measurement and inline quality testing, filling the performance gap between conventional contrast vision sensors and costly 3D vision systems. Adopting laser triangulation scanning technology, the compact OX unit delivers up to 5 μm measurement resolution, independent of workpiece surface contrast and ambient light interference, eliminating the need for auxiliary lighting on production sites. Integrated with complete built-in measurement algorithms, one single sensor supports up to seven simultaneous inspection tasks including dimension gauging, edge positioning, contour matching, gap and height detection, and directly outputs OK/NOK judgment results via IO-Link, EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP fieldbus without secondary PLC data processing. Users complete all parameter configuration through a built-in intuitive web interface without extra software installation, while PoE power supply simplifies wiring and makes the lightweight sensor perfectly suited for robot end-effector mounting, automotive component positioning, metal forming edge tracking and food packaging completeness inspection. Two variants are available: OXM for direct output of finished measurement values for fast on-site judgment, and OXP for raw contour data export to support customized advanced analysis on upper systems.
Complementing the OX sensor’s laser profiling strength, Baumer’s new LX industrial cameras with native RF mount break the limitations of traditional industrial lens solutions. Unlike third-party adapter-based retrofits, the camera integrates Canon RF mount mechanically and electrically from hardware design, eliminating light loss, signal delay and unstable focusing caused by adapter rings. Benefiting from RF’s short flange distance, the camera body depth is reduced by nearly 20% compared with previous EF mount models, retaining the standard 60×60 mm industrial footprint to fit narrow installation spaces, multi-camera arrays and retrofitted legacy production lines. Fully compliant with OOCI and GenICam standards, the camera remotely controls RF lens aperture and electronic focus via unified software APIs, requiring no separate power cables for lenses and improving long-term operational stability. Supporting full-format sensors up to 65 MP with a maximum frame rate of 18 fps in both color and monochrome versions, the RF-mount LX cameras unlock abundant, cost-effective large-aperture Canon RF lens resources unavailable in traditional industrial lens ranges. They serve high-end scenarios including semiconductor wafer inspection, pharmaceutical packaging code reading, automotive multi-height component detection and medical precision imaging, delivering high-resolution, dynamically adjustable optical performance with significant hardware cost reduction for system integrators.
Baumer stated that the dual product launch realizes a complementary vision solution matrix: OX sensors provide fast, plug-and-play contour measurement for standardized inline inspection, while RF-mount LX cameras offer ultra-flexible high-resolution imaging for complex, variable inspection demands. Combined with Baumer’s complete ecosystem of lighting, image processing software and IIoT connectivity modules, the new products enable manufacturers across automotive, electronics, new energy, pharmaceuticals and logistics to build more compact, efficient and economical automated visual inspection stations, accelerating intelligent transformation of discrete manufacturing processes.
